You guys already know that I love being a blogger, right? And some days, it’s absolutely delightful, like the day a few days ago when a huge assortment of Guylian Artisinal Belgian Chocolates were delivered to my doorstep to try and share my thoughts with you. Yeah, as they say, it’s a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it.
Guylian is a chocolate flavored love story. In the late 1950’s, Belgian Chocolatier Guy Foubert married his beautiful love, Liliane. (You see where this is going?). They not only joined their lives, but joined their names to create Guylian Chocolaterie. Their sweet story continued when Guy, ahead of his time, decided that he needed to focus on branding his luscious chocolate, and the chocolate seashell was born. Guy developed the recipe for their signature hazelnut praline filling (to die for!) and Liliane lent her artistry by designing the shining marbled appearance and the beautifully sculpted shapes from the sea.
All Guylian chocolate is created in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium. (You know it’s a great place when it’s name after Santa Clause!) The original hazelnut praliné recipe has not been changed in over 50 years and why each of Guylian’s chocolate Sea Shells and seahorse chocolates has the Guylian quality signature. They are all made the Belgian way with 100% pure cocoa butter and have their unique hazelnut praliné filling, made with caramelized and roasted hazelnuts, resulting in brilliantly shining marbled shells with a divine taste. From the deepest dark confections to sweet and creamy milk chocolate, this is some of the very best chocolate that your palate will ever have the opportunity to taste.
All of the chocolate is made with 100% Belgian chocolate, using only the finest quality ingredients. There is such a heritage in Belgium when it comes to superb chocolates, and Guylian certainly lives up to the standards. I have personally eaten Belgian chocolate in Belgium (it was a bucket list thing…along with the Belgian waffle enjoyed in Belgium) and I can personally attest to the fact that just because you can purchase this chocolate locally, doesn’t mean it’s not the very best Belgian chocolate available.
And although Guylian chocolate can be enjoyed for any occasion, it’s meant to be savored. The very first one that I opened, I popped it into my mouth and just let it melt. I was in chocolate heaven…a chocolate stupor. My husband looked at the goofy grin on my face and said, “What did you do?” (His normal response when I have that kind of smile on my face). I just handed him the box. When it comes to chocolate, we probably wouldn’t say that we have the most discerning palates in the world, but Mr. Coupondipity said, “This chocolate is really, really good! What is this chocolate?” I won’t say that I actually lied; I told him what it was, but I may not have told him that there was more. Maybe.
