Arrrrrgh Matey!

A few days ago, we took our kids on a pirate adventure with Bluefoot Pirate Adventures in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

The fun starts as soon as you enter the building and all kids are given a vest called a  “pirate training uniform”. There is also the option to buy a “pirate pack” which includes a bandana, eye patch and very cool plastic pirate sword. The children can also get face paint and painted “tattoos” at no extra cost. The pirates are there telling jokes and making sure everyone is entertained. Before getting on the boat, the kids are made to say the “pirate oath”, which includes promises to always eat their vegetables and clean their room. They are then told that there is no running on the boat, and no walking on the boat, either. They must do the “pirate swagger” then the pirate leads the kids onto the boat while they follow him being impossibly adorable doing their “pirate swagger”.

Upon boarding the boat, the adults are instructed to sit in the back, while the kids go to the front. The adults can see and hear their children at all times. The adults are given a relaxing tour of the bay and some history of Fort Lauderdale while the kids have their adventure.

The kids are able to help along the way doing little tasks, while listening to a pirate adventure tale of treasure and an enemy pirate. They find a treasure chest aboard the boat, but the enemy pirate has the key and drives by in his little pirate boat. The kids blast him with water cannons, and the day is saved. They get the key and in the chests are treasure packets for all of the kids.

Our boys had an amazing time and were talking about it for days afterward. The actors were wonderful and it was clear they enjoyed what they do and love the kids.

A definite good time was had by all!
