I have a lot of Bibles…a lot! There’s just something exciting about receiving a new copy of God’s Holy Word! You just can’t wait to delve inside and see what new treasures you discover.
My newest bible is an ESV Journaling Bible. And there are several things I really, really love about this one!
First of all, it came in a permanent cover, similar to a box with an opened side. This will keep the bible protected when it’s not being read. It’s a sturdy addition that’s classy, too!
The bible itself has a really cool design on the cover and it’s cloth over board, so the cover is really unique on this one. I love the design, don’t you? It looks like a fine journal.
It’s a bit vintage and I love how different it is from my other bibles.
The inside of the bible has wide, 2-inch margins for your special notes, doodles, etc. I’m not showing you mine, because I am NOT an artist! But my pastor’s wife does a fantastic job in her journaling bible and she’s planning it to be a keepsake for her two daughters. What a great idea!
Let’s talk for a minute about the ESV translation. This is probably now my favorite translation. It seems as if it almost is a cross between the King James and the NIV. The ESV is not new; it will sound more traditional than other versions such as the NIV, which are translated directly from Hebrew and Greek. The ESV is the newest “revision” of a line of translations that goes back to Tyndale and the KJV. I really enjoy the more traditional language; it’s what I grew up with. But I also read from the NIV and the Message.
There are several ways that you could use this particular bible to journal. You could write down notes from the sermon. You could write your own observations about what God is showing you through that verse or chapter. You could write letters to your children in these wide margins. What a wonderful legacy that would be!

I think they would be wonderful for jotting down notes, but also great to record daily reflections while having daily devotionals. Thanks for the chance to win.
I already have one journaling Bible and LOVE it- creating fun drawings, painting, stamping, etc… but I’m already finding that there are verses I want to journal, but that I’ve already journaled on… so I’d love to have a backup for when this one is totally full.
