National Donut Day was established over 80 years ago by the Chicago Salvation Army to honor women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I.
Krispy Kreme
Keeping with its annual tradition, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is giving away a free doughnut to every guest on National Doughnut Day.
On Friday, June 7, customers can select one free doughnut, with no purchase necessary, at participating locations in the U.S. and Canada. That includes any flavor on the menu, even Krispy Kreme’s new summertime fruit-inspired doughnuts.
As a special challenge to customers, Krispy Kreme is asking them to help the brand give away 1 million free doughnuts on National Doughnut Day. The reward for achieving that goal is a free taste of its newest doughnut that will be unveiled later in June, described by Krispy Kreme as ““out of this world” great.”
Dunkin
Dunkin will offer a free classic donut of customers’ choice with the purchase of any beverage at participating locations.
