If you have a big kid and a little kid, you know that the little kid invariably wants to do what the big kid does!
The big kid loves to ride his bike, and the little kid, who’s only 2 and a half years old, thinks he should be able to ride one, too. But until we were introduced to the Strider Bike, we figured that this was impossible. Not so! The great folks at who make the Strider Bike sent us one for out little guy to try out, and so that we could share our thoughts with you.
When the bike first arrived, our little guy saw it and immediately started saying, “Bike! Wow!” He could tell that it was just his size and could hardly wait for us to get it out of the box. Assembly was super easy and took only a few minutes with no tools required, and within about 5 minutes he had his helmet on and was on his bike (all under the watchful eye of his protective big brother!).
The Strider bikes make so much sense. If you’ve ever taught a kid how to ride a bike (remember the endless huffing and puffing and you ran alongside???), then you know that the most difficult part is for them to master balancing and peddling together. But the Strider bike takes the peddling aspect away so your little ones (as young as 18 months) can focus on just learning the important skill of balancing.
Keep in mind that the video below and these photos were taken literally just a few minutes after the bike was unboxed. Not only was he thrilled that he had a bike like his big brother, we know that it will only be a matter of a short time before he has really mastered the art of balance and steering. After that, pedals will be a breeze. And Strider bikes aren’t just for toddlers. They may a full line of bikes that last well into adulthood! You can visit their product line here.

The bike that our little guy has for now is the Strider Sport model for kids 18 months to 5 years. It comes with a tiny seat that he’s using now, and a larger seat with a larger seat post to fit kids over 3 years old. So this extremely well made bike will last our little guy for 3 to 4 years! The cost for this model is $119, and that is a deal for the length of time that he will use it, for sure. The tires are made of an industrial foam, which not only makes them super light, but means that they will never go flat! You have to love that! And with no pedals, there’s no bike chain to worry about either!
Strider Bikes are ‘All Terrain’ so your little one can ride on bike trails or even through grass and dirt without a problem. And now the whole family can get great exercise while biking together, even your toddlers!
Bottom line: we love this Strider Bike, and we are already sure that when our little guy gets too big for this one, we’ll buy him the next size up. If you are looking for an exceptional product for your family, we highly recommend Strider Bikes!
