Rituals recently gave me the opportunity to try some of their products and I have to tell you, I have fallen in love! Before I give you my personal review, let me tell you a few things about Rituals.

Rituals Cosmetics opened its digital doors on Sephora.com as part of their international expansion plan. The brand’s philosophy centers around helping you slow down and find happiness in the smallest of things.

I tried the Ritual of Karma: Foaming Shower Gel, Body Cream and Body Scrub. For all three products, one of the elements I loved best was the scent. It’s fresh and clean without being overpowering. Not only that, I was really impressed with the packaging: beautiful rich teal accented with gold lids. So not only are the products great, they look great, which makes them excellent gift ideas.

So let’s talk about the products!

The Ritual of Karma Shower Gel:
Radiate positive vibes for your soul and your skin with The Ritual of Karma foaming shower gel. Using unique gel to foam technology, the rich and luxurious foam is enriched with sweet holy lotus and nourishing White Tea. As you can see in the photo, this foaming shower gel is nice and thick, and really provides a wonderful lather in the shower or bath. I loved how it made my skin feel and it didn’t take a huge amount to get this nice amount of lather and foam.

The Ritual of Karma Body Cream:
Do good for your skin and good will come your way with this body cream from The Ritual of Karma. A luxurious cream enhanced with holy lotus and white tea, it nourishes and soothes your skin while leaving it gorgeously scented. Special technology makes this cream quick easy to apply and quickly absorbed by the skin. This was my favorite Rituals product that I tried, and now my favorite body cream. There are times when I choose not to use body cream for a couple of reasons: either it is too heavy on my skin and leaves a residue, or the scent is too strong and competes with my perfume. This body cream does neither. It’s has a nice, thick texture but spreads on easily and after you massage it into your skin, your skin feels moisturized without the residue. I’m not afraid to immediately put on clothes after I apply this cream. It makes skin soft, smooth and supple.

The Ritual of Karma Body Scrub:
Maintain that gorgeous glow with this body scrub from The Ritual of Karma. This nourishing, sugar based scrub is made of exfoliating particles that nourish and revitalize your skin, all with the delicate, floral aroma of holy lotus and white tea. I typically don’t use body scrubs because I feel that sometimes they’re too harsh on my skin. This one from Rituals is gentle. It gave my skin a healthy and vital glow while being comfortable to use. I especially love using this on my elbows, knees and feet to leave them soft and touchable!

I can’t believe I have spent my entire life in the dark about Coconut Oil! I just received some a few weeks ago to try out, and I have been absolutely amazed at the many uses for this product!

One of the things that I love about coconut oil is that it is incredibly versatile. Which makes it a must have for frugal people, like me. Coconut oil has literally over 1,000 uses – I’m serious. Google it! But here are five of my favorite ways that it saves money:

1. Cooking. Coconut oil can help you have some yummy (and healthy) treats. You can use it for stir-frying just about anything, use it in baking, etc. Just about anything that calls for oil will be great with coconut oil.

2. Moisturizer. Coconut oil is an awesome moisturizer, and the added benefit is that it smells heavenly. And you can use it to condition your hair! Leave it in for a few minutes while you’re in the shower, or overnight for extra deep conditioning. And coconut oil makes for an excellent diaper rash cream.

3. Toothpaste. Mix ½ a cup of coconut oil with ½ teaspoon of baking soda and a few drops of tea tree oil for an excellent toothpaste!

4. Deodorant. Coconut oil itself can work and be used as a natural deodorant. It’s especially nice if combined with a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Lavender is definitely my favorite!

5. Coffee creamer. Coconut oil makes for an excellent coffee creamer. Use it like you would use your regular creamer and see if you like it!

The San Francisco Salt Company – Exquisite Bath Salts and Gourmet Chef Salts

First let me say that I consider myself a little bit of a foodie. I am not a gourmet chef by any means, but I have enjoyed food all over the world and I’ve even taken a few private cooking lessons in Paris, France. But to me, salt is salt. Or so I thought. If you’re like a lot of people (or like me) you may have dabbled with essential oils in the past without really studying the benefits and uses that they have. I was given the opportunity by doTERRA to use some of their oils and see the benefits. I learned a lot!!!

First – what is an essential oil?

An essential oil is a liquid that is usually distilled by steam or water from the leaves, stems, flowers, bark, roots, or other elements of a plant. Essential oils are not really oily-feeling at all. As a matter of fact, they’re mostly clear and seem to be more hydrating than oily.

Essential oils contain the true essence of the plant it was derived from and they’re highly concentrated. Just a little goes a long way.

One of the first things that I did since winter is coming on and the weather is getting more dry, was to make a lavender/peppermint sugar scrub for hands and feet. Not only does it smell heavenly, but it worked wonders with those rough spots. Here’s how:

Essential Oil Sugar Scrub

You’ll need only 3 things: 1/2 cup white sugar, 1/2 cup coconut oil (although other oils would work) and 10-12 drops of your favorite doTERRA essential oil. Mix the sugar and oil, add the essential oil then whisk together. Rub on rough, dry skin then rinse and pat dry. Follow with a moisturizing cream. Keep the scrub in an airtight container and use several times a week for great results!

I used several drops of the peppermint oil in bath water when the five-year old had a stuffy nose and it made him immediately feel better.

I also used a tip from JoAnn Fowler of doTERRA and used a few drops of the lavender essential oil in my laundry. Oh my goodness! My laundry has never had such a luscious scent!

JoAnn also suggested that I put a couple of drops of the lemon essential oil in my water. This is, by far, the best lemon water I have ever tasted!

I  LOVED the article “101 Uses for Essential Oils“. I had no idea that these little drops of goodness could be used for so many different things!

There’s really no way for me to detail all of the ways that I have started using essential oils in everyday life. I find myself using them in so many different ways from health issues to cleaning, to using them with the kids.
