How to Use Kid’s Costumes for Learning

How would you like to make this school year one of the best ever? And what does that have to do with costumes??? A lot!

Studies have conclusively proven that when learning becomes ‘relevant’ to students, they retain information and learn more easily. After your child starts this school year, wait a few weeks to see what ‘theme’ the teacher is using. Space, maybe? Will they be studying the Renaissance? Or another culture?

YOU can then become one of your child’s best resources for learning, by providing him with fun and interesting projects to complete, hand-in-hand with what he’s learning in school.

Most kids absolutely love costumes. It encourages their imaginations and their sense of play. If your child is learning about the Solar System, there’s no better way to increase his knowledge than to have him write a play to present to the family. He could become a “Super Hero” who has to travel to each of the planets in search of a cure, or to save the earth. You get it. Have him construct an easy set and whatever props his imagination brings.

A great place to find costumes is Costume Discounters. They have literally hundreds to choose from. Not only are their prices fantastic, but the quality of the costumes is superb. They sent me one to review, and our little guy was thrilled. So was I. This was not a cheap costume made of low grade materials. This costume is NICE! And the one pictured above on Little B is on sale right now.

And the bonus? After you use it to enhance (or teach, if you homeschool) your child’s education, you can turn right around and use it for Halloween!

Let us know some of the creative ways you make sure that your child learns! We love hearing from you.

And don’t forget to visit Costume Discounters for all of your costume needs for both kids and adults.
