This is book three of the Amish Vines and Orchards series, and in my opinion, the best so far! When the book begins, you see Amish Rhoda Byler and a small group of family & others, including her brother and his family, the Kings (Leah, Samuel and Jacob) and her helper, Landon, who is ‘English’. Rhoda and Jacob are falling in love, but Jacob has to be away quite a bit. Because of Jacob’s absence, his brother, Samuel, steps in to help Rhoda with an apple orchard that is their source of income and livelihood. Because of their close proximity and working together, Samuel falls in love with Rhoda, and kisses her at the very same moment that Jacob is coming home from one of his long absences.
This obviously causes huge problems and a very tense environment. They almost cannot keep the orchard going. Jacob wants badly to trust Rhoda, and even though she and Samuel have vowed that this would never happen again, Jacob still has huge problems to overcome. He still wants to marry Rhoda, yet put her through some major challenges to force her to ‘prove’ her love for him.
It’s best if you read both books 1 and 2 before embarking on this one: you’ll understand the characters and relationships much better.
