Book Review: Eyes Wide Open – The Outlaw Chronicles

If you are looking for a book that you simply can’t put down, Ted Dekker’s ‘Eyes Wide Open’ fits the bill!

The story opens with a pair of young people who are essentially on their own in the world. You’re hooked from the beginning paragraph, “My heart sounds like a monster with clobber feet, running straight toward me. It’s pitch dark. I’m lying on my back, soaked with sweat from the hair on my head to the soles of my feet. I’m lying perfectly still, but my hands and knees won’t stop shaking. I’m in my grave, and I know I’m going to die here.

Through a series of almost unbelievable events (yet you can see where it could happen) these two young people are trapped inside a psych ward at a mental hospital. They are mistakenly thought to be other patients who are missing. Patients with charts who happen to be approximately the same age as these two. There are hair-raising twists and turns and an evil doctor who is adding to the madness.

This book actually encompasses the four books of the Outlaw Chronicles: Book One; Identity, Book Two; Mirrors, Book Three; Unseen, and Book Four; Seer. You can read them separately or one at a time. Either way, this book will provide a delightful and scary ride!
