You may have fond memories of playing this game as a kid; it’s been around since 1963! So Life is 50 years old!!!
You can always tell if a game is really great when people are still playing it years after it was introduced. I loved Life as a kid…and I still love Life!
When Hasbro sent us their brand new version, everyone was excited! Even the neighbors invited themselves over for Family Game Night!
There are a few things that I really like about the newer version: the action spaces are really fun and keep the action moving, just like you want in a game.
Set up is super easy, and the wheel is attached. Remember how you used to lose the wheel and everybody would fight about who didn’t put the game up properly, blah blah blah? No more…this wheel goes with the game!
We had a lot of different age groups playing the game, from a six year old (who did great but maybe didn’t really understand as well) to teenagers who thought that they already know everything, to adults, who KNOW that they don’t know everything. Everyone had a super time. The game is for ages 8+, but I think kids as young as six can join in with no problem. Although it’s for 2-4 players, we teamed up so more could play. It was really a lot of fun to see what the younger ones chose as far as careers, college, etc. Gives you a little more insight into who they are.
Here’s what Hasbro’s Website says: Where will your choices take you? You made it through high school, so now what’s next? Go to college or start a career – it’s your choice. Think the family life is for you? Take that path and see how many kids you’ll have! Will you venture down the risky road where fortunes can be won…and lost? Do whatever it takes to retire in style with the most wealth at the end of the game. Spin the wheel of fate and take a drive along the twisting roads families have enjoyed for more than 50 years! Do good deeds as you go through the game to earn Life Tiles and more money down the road!
