This is a great story for kids and it accomplishes two goals: it helps kids learn that becoming educated about those things that they fear can make them less fearful, and it teaches them about the importance of our awesome firefighters!
Little Will was super excited to learn that his class was going on a field trip. After all, what kid doesn’t love getting out of the classroom!?! But then he found out where they were going…the firehouse. That was not good. Not good at all, because Will is afraid of not only fire, but firefighters themselves. He thinks that they look scary in their heavy uniforms and masks. And who would actually run into a burning building by choice? Not Will! But when Will and his class take their tour, Will finds that firefighters are just regular people just like him. He finds their work exciting!
I love the way that this book integrates illustrations with real images; it gives kids a very good idea of the importance of our firefighters and how they stay safe in what they do.
