Book Review: Killing Jesus by Stephen Mansfield

I have to admit, just the title of this book is galvanizing. I really didn’t know what to expect, but when I was given the opportunity to review this book, I jumped at the chance.

Rather than being more of a spiritual or religious book, this book examines the history behind the murder of Jesus Christ. The language is written simply and in a straightforward manner; you don’t have to be a scholar to understand it.

This book centers mainly around ‘Holy Week'; the week that Jesus Christ was taken into custody, ‘tried’, and crucified.

I found it very interesting that the author felt that the subject matter was so gritty that he could not, in all good conscience, write about it from the comfort of a plush office. Instead, he went out into the world; bus stations, crowded restaurants, and park benches. And that is where he wrote this book; with life swirling around all about him.

If you are interested in a factual account of this time in history, this is the book for you.
