My little guy is seven (as of yesterday!) and he loves it when we read together. He is at the age where he understands and really enjoys longer books. We just finished ‘Little Pilgrim’s Progress’ and we are now reading ‘Bash and the Chicken Coop Caper’.
I love it when I can find a book that he enjoys and that teaches values and biblical principles. And this book certainly ticks that box. Basically, Ray, a city-boy is headed to the farm to visit his distant cousin Bash. As young boys often do, Bash and Ray (aka Beamer) get into all kinds of trouble. But not to worry! Bash has a Farmin’ and Fishin’ Book (the Bible) and he knows that all will be well.
There are some major issues that occur in the book but the boys learn that they can count on scripture when it promises “All things work together for good for those who love God.” It’s a hard lesson, and sometimes hard to understand. But I love how this book teaches that even little children can put their faith into action.
Your kids will love the shenanigans created by Bash and Beamer!
