Book Review: When I Grow Up I Want to Be in the U.S. Navy!

We love the WIGU book series (When I Grow Up) and this current addition to the series, ‘When I Grow Up, I Want to Be in the U.S. Navy’ does not disappoint! And what better day to post our review than today, on Memorial Day when we honor our heroes!

The very first thing that your child will read in this book is the Sailor’s Creed. It makes me proud just to read it! We are a huge Navy town here in Jacksonville, Florida where we live. We have the Mayport Naval Base and the Cecil Field Naval Base. We are less than an hour from King’s Bay, where the submarines live. Many of our friends are in (or retired from) the Navy, from enlisted sailors to high-ranking officers. We are proud of them all.

We have been honored to have been invited on Friends and Family cruises with our Navy friends where we have seen an aircraft carrier and a destroyer up close and personal.

In this book, Noah gets to tour an aircraft carrier. Throughout the book, your child will learn interesting facts about our Navy and the role that it plays in our country. We especially love how the book integrates illustrations and actual photographs, so that your child can get an accurate portrayal of the Navy and the aircraft carrier that Noah visits.

Whether your child has military aspirations or not, this book is an invaluable resource in teaching them about an important branch of our military.

And now, WIGU Publishing has a summer reading program for kids, both readers and writers! The kids can win for themselves and for their schools! Check it out here!!

I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book for review purposes. All opinions are my own. I have not been compensated in any other manner.
