Mr. Coupondipity and I like to travel. No, we LOVE to travel. Here’s how we got to Europe the very first time: I was a college student – an older college student. I didn’t go back to school until I was 29. By that time, I had a full time job, a husband and a child. Mr. Coupondipity is an artist, and I said, “If you’ll help me get through school, I’ll take you to Paris.” Yeah, right. He is, of course, wondering how I’ll do that. But for four years, I squirreled away every extra cent that I could get my hands on. The day that I graduated, I said, “Okay, pack your bags, we are going to Paris. I have saved the money for the trip.” He was flabbergasted. But we went and fell in love with the city.
Here’s what I didn’t expect…there is a TON of walking! Which has been the case in Paris, Rome, Venice, London, etc. There’s just so much to see that you want to be out there, experiencing everything that the culture has to offer. But it is really hard on your feet (and especially the older I get!). On our first trip to Paris, we walked from the Louvre, through the Tuilerie Gardens, down the Champs Elysees to the Arche de Triomphe. That was IT. I plopped myself down on a curb and told Mr. Coupondipity to find a taxi…I wasn’t walking one more single solitary step. (This is the behavior of a spoiled child, yes, I’m aware.)
