the Story

Okay – tell the truth. How many times have you secretly wished, “I wish the Bible would be easier to understand! Why are there all of these thous and whosoevers?” So maybe you researched and did find a version of the Bible that would be clearer to you, but it was outrageously expensive.

Let me introduce you to ‘The Story’ -The Bible as One Continuing Story of God and His People. I want you to keep in mind that this book should not take the place of a Bible. It gives you the complete and overall ‘story’ of the Bible in 31 concise chapters. As such, there are some beautiful nuggets of scripture and truth that are left out – but the goal of this book is NOT to take the place of your Bible; rather, it’s to be a companion to help you understand the Bible’s overall message.

Many reviews of this book condemn it, saying that, “It’s not a real Bible.” Well, no, it’s not. It isn’t supposed to be. It is a narrative without chapter and verse numbers. It flows like a contemporary novel. And it will give you a different perspective on what you do read in your Bible.

The Story brings out the key features of the Bible, and is a great counterpart to your scripture reading. It’s a great resource to help you teach the Bible to your kids and would be a wonderful addition to family devotions.

And right now…it’s only $5 (while they last) at Family Christian Stores! That’s right! Only $5!!! This would be a superb gift idea for Sunday School teachers, church ministry leaders, family friends, etc. It’s a hardcover book with over 500 pages. What a deal!

From the foreword by Max Lucado and Randy Frazee:
“This book tells the grandest, most compelling story of all time: the story of a true God who loves his children, who established for them a way of salvation and provided a route to eternity. Each story in these 31 chapters reveals the God of grace – the God who speaks; the God who acts; the God who listens; the God whose love for his people culminated in his sacrifice of Jesus, his only Son, to atone for the sins of humanity.”

Features:

  • The story of the Bible – in its own words.
  • Selections from the NIV Bible with short transitions to connect the reader to the continuing story.
  • Events, characters and teachings of the Bible arranged chronologically
  • Timelines of Biblical events
  • New International Version (NIV) Bible text

This would make a good gift for my mom, for whom English is a second language. She doesn’t read the Bible because it’s too difficult for her in terms of language.

  2. “Many reviews of this book condemn it, saying that, “It’s not a real Bible.” Well, no, it’s not. It isn’t supposed to be.” – I REALLY love how you included this. So many people are quick to decide what something should be, rather than what it is. Great review!

  3. I would like to have this for my kids. We have a book that tells short stories about the Bible because the real Bible is really hard for them to understand.

  4. Will have to check this out for a few Christmas gifts that haven’t been purchased yet.

  5. Melissa Smith says:

I’ve never read the Bible because quite frankly, I don’t understand it. This book though, I would be able to grasp some of the knowledge that the Bible itself is trying to convey. And for only $5?! That’s the best part!

  6. This would make a great gift as well. Heading to the site now.
