When I got the opportunity to review ‘The Ishbane Conspiracy’, I couldn’t wait for the book to arrive, because Randy Alcorn is simply one of my all time favorite authors. His works are page turners, and they’re clean at the same time. No worries about gratuitous violence, sex or vulgarity.
Although The Ishbane Conspiracy is about a group of young people, don’t make the mistake of believing that the book would only appeal to young people. On the contrary, it’s a cautionary tale for all of us, showing the reader how Satan’s insidious workings can affect even the most devout.
The book follows the lives of four young people (late teens/early 20s) over one year of their lives. This is a critical time in the life of a young adult, and Satan knows how vulnerable they are. Between the chapters you will read letters sent by two demons to each other. This really portrays how Satan could theoretically manipulate our lives.
If you enjoyed Alcorn’s ‘Lord Foulgrin’s Letters’ or C.S. Lewis’ ‘The Screwtape Letters’, you will enjoy this one as well.
