Did you know that the average child from ages 5 to 12 loses 20 baby teeth? That’s a lot of teeth! And it can be scary for the first time. Not anymore! Your child will love the Teeth Fairies Doll and Book set, written by Ingrid Bencosme. I was thoroughly impressed with several things about this set.
The first thing that I noticed was how beautifully packaged this set it. It comes in a great, sturdy keepsake box decorated with colorful images that your child can use to hold all kinds of treasures after taking the doll and book out. I am seeing this as a crayon and marker box, but it could be used in several ways.
The doll is delightful! She is whimsical and fun, and it’s very clear that she is well made and durable. Any child would love to have their very own tooth fairy, right? Of course!
The book is has wonderful illustrations, and parents can decide how to use the book and doll over the span of tooth loss (about six years). The fairy comes out to ‘visit’ when a tooth is lost and ‘reports back’ to the Fairy Boss about how well the child is doing with dental care. So this set promotes good dental care, and children have a ton of fun taking care of their teeth to show their very own tooth fairly how well they’re doing.
Here’s how Teeth Fairies came into being: About two years ago, when Ingrid’s eldest daughter Emma got her first loose tooth, Ingrid Bencosme decided that she wanted to make this time as exciting as possible. As a former elementary school teacher for over ten years, Ingrid always saw these life experiences as major opportunities to educate and encourage children. She wanted to make this as fun as possible for her daughter, so she was surprised when she could not find a book that met her needs. She had always made up stories for her students, so it came naturally for her to create her own story. She also thought a doll would make it more interactive and fun and encourage imagination, so again, she looked and could not find anything that worked. So she bought a generic fairy doll and created an exciting experience to share with her daughter, and the rest is history!
