Easter is right around the corner, and Disney wants you to Hop to the Music! The great folks over at Disney were nice enough to send us several CDs from the Disney Music Emporium so we could share our thoughts with you.

The first thing we noticed is that there was as much music for the grownups in the house as there was for the kids! (Of course, the adults love the Disney kid stuff, too!)

Full Disclosure: yes, there is a Frozen CD and yes, your kids will listen to ‘Let It Go’ 87 gazillion times.

hop to the music disney jr shuffleOur littlest one was super excited about both the Disney Junior DJ Shuffle 2. Several selections from his favorite Disney Jr. shows are included like Doc McStuffins, Sofia the First and his fave, Jake and the Never Land Pirates. There’s even a new one on there from ‘Miles from Tomorrowland’, a brand new Disney Jr. show. And the super fun thing about this CD is that it includes Karaoke tracks for four of the great songs on the CD. The boys have LOVED this because mom is a singer and they have heard me rehearsing with tracks since their birth. Now they have their own to rehearse with. And the lyrics are included inside so you can help them sing along.

hop to the music frozenBoth of our guys love the music from ‘Frozen’. The little one’s favorite is ‘Let It Go’ (of course) and the older one loves ‘In Summer’ sung by Olaf. The instrumentals are not on this CD, just the selections with the great vocals. We saw the Frozen short at the beginning of Cinderella, and now that Frozen 2 has been announced, the kids have been reinfected with Frozen Fever! These great songs were written by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, and no one could have predicted the smash success. This CD also includes a great version of ‘Let It Go’ from Demi Lovato.

hop to the music guardiansOkay, next up is Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Vol 1. This is a GREAT CD!!! Most of the tracks are from the 70s – all hits that have been played time and again through the generations, both on the radio and included in movie soundtracks. You’ll recognize most all of them and it’s just a fun CD to listen to. You’ll hear big hits like the Pina Colada Song (its real name is ‘Escape’) and ‘Fooled Around and Fell in Love’. How loud will you sing along to ‘O-o-h Child’ and ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’?!? We were playing this CD on a day trip a few days ago and singing to the tops of our lungs! As a special bonus with this CD, you’ll get a code for a digital download so that you can listen to this anywhere!

hop to the music into the woodsAnd finally, the amazing music of Stephen Sondheim and ‘Into the Woods’. This is a big, double CD set with 50 (yes, 50!!!) cuts. The movie features Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Anna Kendrick and Johnny Depp as the wolf. I have long been a fan of Sondheim’s music (remember ‘Send in the Clowns’??). If you haven’t seen the movie, it’s now out on DVD, so get it!! It started as a Broadway Musical in the 80s and was then adapted to the big screen. It’s extremely clever how these traditional fairy tales are woven together into one magical plot. Meryl Streep plays a deliciously wicked witch, and Johnny Depp is the wolf you hope comes knocking at your door!

You can find all of this great music and more at the Disney Music Emporium.
