I could not put this book down! First of all, this is one of my favorite genres – Christian historical fiction with stories set in Biblical times about real Biblical characters. Secondly, Mesu Andrews is one of my favorite authors of this genre.

If you are a churchgoer, or you’ve seen the movie ‘The Ten Commandments’, you know that Moses was floated down the river in a basket as a baby, then rescued and raised by Pharaoh’s daughter. But you probably know nothing about her.

This book weaves a story around her in a way that is completely intriguing to the reader. At the same time that you’re gobbling up the book and story, you’re learning about what life was like during those old testament days. I’ll tell you, those people in the palace were evil! Some of them, anyway. If Pharaoh didn’t like something his son did, he would simply have him murdered. Likewise for a wife or daughter. It’s amazing that ANY mothers-in-law lived to tell about it!

Although young Moses is woven in and out of the story, this is not his tale. It’s about his family, both biological and the royalty who adopted him.

If you enjoy this kind of story, you will love this one! I can’t wait to get my hands on the others in this series!
