This is book two in The Blue Doors series. The first book was ‘A Table by the Window’ and the series by Lodge is set to be a trilogy. Even though you may not have read the first book, you’ll have no problem following the plot and characters in ‘Reservations for Two’. I really loved how real these characters were, at times seeming to jump off the page. Juliette and Neil are trying to make a go of a long distance relationship, while at the same time she’s trying to open a restaurant and deal with her mother’s cancer. She has a big, sloppy, loving relationship with her siblings that you’ll find both heartwarming and hilarious. The story starts in the gorgeous lavender fields of Provence, then moves to Tuscany, where letters of Juliette’s grandmother are interspersed with the plot and some mouthwatering recipes that you’ll love. I also love the fact that this book is clean enough for young girls, too. Can’t wait for book three in this series!
