I enjoyed this book, although the story really bothered me at times. When Mallory was 17, she made the decision to donate a kidney to her cousin, which would save her cousin’s life. But her parents would not allow her to follow through with it, and Mallory was bothered for years that she was unable to help her cousin. She made a promise to some day somewhere save a life. When Mallory goes to work for a Muslim doctor, a chain of events is sparked that leads Mallory, impossibly gullible and naive, flying to the middle east against the wishes of her boyfriend and her parents. It was a stupid decision, and almost costs Mallory her own life. I don’t know that I would place this story in the Christian Fiction genre. The characters were based on a real life story, which is very, very scary. If you can get past the main character’s ignorance, you’ll enjoy the story.

Careful with your criticism. This book is based on a true story, a friend of the author lived this. The names were changed, the circumstances of her reasons to embark upon this journey were changed, but she did venture into the events described. The author shares her specific involvement in securing her friend’s exit from Pakistan.
