I have had the same vacuum cleaner for years. It works great. Picks up dirt and debris like nobody’s business. But there was one big problem that seemed insurmountable: this vacuum cleaner was big, bulky, heavy and hard to manipulate. And guess what that meant? It meant I didn’t use it. It meant that my floors had to crunch when you walked on them before I’d vacuum with the behemoth. And it didn’t do squat for wood, linoleum or tile. And we have all of those types of floors in our house.
So when the great folks that make Shark vacuums sent me their Shark Rocket Powerhead to try out, I was thrilled!
First let’s talk about the unboxing. When it was delivered, I hadn’t done any prior research, so I was shocked at how light this unit is. (Remember…heavy was the biggest downside of my other vacuum cleaner). This one is only nine pounds, not including the cord (compared to my old one’s chunky obesity!).
I took it out of the box and resigned myself to waiting until Mr. Coupondipity came home to put it together. And so there it sat. Mocking me. I finally decided to pull out the assembly instructions and give it a go. Fast forward five minutes…done! Assembly was so incredibly easy with this vacuum cleaner!
So as soon as it was put together, I could hardly wait to use it. Probably the only time in my life I’ve been excited to vacuum. Ever.
Two things amazed me right off the bat. It was super easy to push and the self propel feature is excellent. If the thing had a GPS it could probably vacuum the house all by itself. Secondly, going around corners, furniture, etc. was a snap. It’s sort of like comparing a big old Cadillac (old vacuum) to a sweet little Porsche 911 (new Shark Powerhead). Except without the outrageous maintenance costs. All of its power is in the head (hence the name Powerhead) so the actual vacuum weight in your hand is only one pound. One pound!
The next thing that I really love is that it comes with a Gentle Touch Hard Floor brushroll.
Why is that so great for me? I have ceramic tile in my foyer, wood floors in my dining room, marble tile in my bathrooms and linoleum in the kitchen. This Shark Rocket Powerhead works on ALL of those.
It’s super easy to change the roller from carpet to hard floors, too.
Another of the things I love is how easy it is to empty. You just grab the canister and dump it. Takes about 30 seconds.
And I love that the height adjusts to make it comfortable for me. See, I am only 5 feet tall. I don’t need a vacuum cleaner that I have to reach over my head to push. This one adjusts down (yeah, I know…kid-size) to make it easy for me. I also love the limited noise. It’s just not as loud, but it does the job that my bigger model does.
And it has LED Headlights! That way you will never miss a spot!
And finally? This powerful little vacuum costs a fraction of what some of the others on the market will set you back. You can get this one for well under $200! I’m serious. You don’t have to pay several hundred dollars for a vacuum cleaner that is exceptional.
