Book Review: The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George

little paris bookshop

Once I started reading this book, I could hardly put it down! First of all, I love to read. Secondly, Paris is one of my favorite cities in the world. Thirdly, it’s about a bookshop!

The story centers around Monsieur Perdu, a bookseller who finds the perfect books to “heal” the reader. How intriguing! He doesn’t care about making a lot of money by peddling the current bestsellers; he just wants to find the perfect title for each reader. He has an amazing ability to help broken hearts heal in a lovely, heartwarming way. But he is helping everyone but himself. Poor Perdu finally begins to delve into his own past and deep sorrow, and the harm and heartache that he has encountered. Due to a providential circumstance, he finds a letter that takes him on a journey in search of elusive love. The journey takes place on the Seine with some unforgettable characters, accompanying Perdu wherever he decides to take them.

Although fictional, those of us who are readers are well aware of the healing power of a beautifully written story. They take us out of ourselves into a world where we can see how others live, and cope, and move through their lives.

You will certainly enjoy this lovely story and its rich cast of characters.
